She found her forever home!
Smidge, now Lizzie, has found her forever home. She is living with a family with a 6-year-old daughter. Their little girl is shy and has really fallen in love with sweet little Lizzie. I'm happy that Lizzie is with this Durham family so I can keep up with her.

Smidge looks for a forever family...
This is Smidge, a (approx) 2-year-old Papillon mix. I call her a Pap-Jack, because she has the build of a Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) and can jump straight up in the air 3-4 feet (I can catch her in my arms).
Smidge probably came from a puppy mill so she is a bit shy with new people, but won't hestitate to take a treat from anyone who offers. When a friend came over and sat on the floor, she crawled all over her (my dogs were there too which helps) so it isn't a huge issue.
I do think it is likely she was abused because if you lean over to pick her up, she'll flatten herself lowering her head to make herself as small as possible. But after only a few days at my house, her self-confidence has bolstered and she carries herself quite proudly.
She's been great around my dogs (2 border collies, a papillon, and a visiting toy poodle). She plays intensely with my young border collie -- letting herself be dragged around the room by the scruff and pouncing right back on for more when released and she plays happily with the toy poodle. She is FAST and races around the back yard with all the other dogs (they like to pretend they are NASCAR drivers). She is probably almost as fast as my large BC. Impressive.
Smidge does not bark. The only vocalizing I've heard is cries of panic when I come to let her out of her crate. She does fine in the crate, but the coming out is full of excitement and heightened arousal. It is a pretty minor issue given all her other wonderful traits.
She is still very puppy-like relishing the act of carrying a stolen sock around the house (gave it up immediately when asked) or dragging my shoe (almost as big as she is) down the hallway (I had to laugh but all shoes were put up properly afterwards).
She loves to snuggle. She will do a flying leap into an empty lap and will crawl across a heap of sleeping dogs to snuggle into the middle of a full lap (where I am in the evening). But she is also content to sleep at my feet when I type in the office (my lap already being claimed by the toy poodle who was here first).
She is a doll and I am looking for a very special home for her. An ordinary one won't do. I want someone who is willing to keep me updated on her progress and post pictures to her blog. I have to know that she is in her LAST home this time.
Thanks for sharing her with all your friends who might enjoy the company of a super special little girl.
